Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy covers the RC Garage Android app, the RC Garage website/Web App and the optional RC Connect online community services. RC Garage is developed and published by JVG.112. The Android package name is com.joey.rcgarage.

RC Garage can be used without a community account for the main local garage features. Features such as public profiles, feed posts, direct messages, profile visits and other RC Connect functions use the RC Garage backend when you enable or use them.

2. Data stored locally on Android

The app can store vehicle details, favourites, maintenance logs, costs, battery information, upgrades, notes, drives, driving locations, shopping lists, repairs, custom fields, selected photos, language, theme, notification settings, review preference and app-lock status locally. Search, cost summaries and achievement progress are calculated locally.

The optional app-lock PIN is not stored in readable form. Only a random salt and PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 verification value are kept locally. Manual RC Garage backups can contain garage data and stored photos and are not encrypted. The app-lock PIN and verification value are deliberately excluded from backups.

3. Optional account and public profile data

An RC Connect account is optional. If you create an account, the backend may store your username, protected password verification data, display name, profile photo, profile banner, bio, country, favorite brand, selected social links, profile theme, activity status, privacy settings, verification status/type, optional username history, badges, featured badge, summarized profile statistics, account dates, session information and technical identifiers used for account security and ban enforcement.

If your profile is public, your @username page may display information you made public, including your display name, bio, profile photo, selected socials, badges, verification type, activity status, optional username history, public feed posts and shared RCs. RC Garage community accounts do not require an email address as part of normal registration, and passwords are not stored as readable plain text.

4. RC Connect posts, views, messages and social activity

When you use RC Connect, the backend may store the content and metadata needed for the features you choose to use, including feed posts, feed photos, polls, audience settings, comments, likes/reactions, follows, friend requests/friendships, blocks, direct-message text, direct-message images, sent/read timestamps, system messages, online/last-seen state, typing state, community reports and your acceptance of the current Community Rules & Terms.

Profile visitor counting is configurable. When it is enabled, a profile visit is counted at most once per signed-in user per day and the profile owner sees only the total count, not a list of visitor names. In the main RC Connect feed, each visible impression of a post may count as a view, including when the same user sees that post again later. A feed-impression event is sent to the backend for this purpose.

Community reports and moderation information may be retained where needed for safety, fraud or abuse prevention, dispute handling, legal obligations or enforcement of account restrictions and bans.

5. Shared Community Garage data

When you intentionally share a vehicle or your Garage with the community, a public copy of the shared vehicle information and attached photos is sent to the RC Garage backend. Depending on the vehicle record, this can include vehicle details, upgrades, notes, maintenance, repairs, drives, shopping-list items and costs. Check what you want to make public before sharing. Inventory / Parts in Stock is not shared.

If a shared Garage is connected to an account that is later deleted, the shared vehicle copy may be detached from the account or anonymized according to the current server logic.

6. RC Garage Web private garage

If you use RC Garage Web and import or save your private garage there, RC Garage stores a private account-linked garage snapshot and private garage photos in the web backend so you can use that data in your browser. This web data is not public unless you separately use a sharing feature.

Deleting your RC Garage account removes the private RC Garage Web snapshot and its private web photos from the current web backend.

7. App analytics and service status

For signed-in users, RC Garage can send privacy-minimal app analytics to the RC Garage backend. These events contain fixed screen/action names, the app version/version code and account/session context. They do not contain direct-message or forum text, passwords, garage photos, profile free-form text or the content of your garage records. The service may also process presence and last-online information needed for community status features.

8. Photos, files and permissions

For a vehicle photo, RC Garage can open the Android camera app or Android photo picker after you choose that action. A selected photo can be copied to RC Garage private storage. Backup and restore use Android's file picker and only read or write the file you select. Notification permission is used for LiPo storage reminders configured by you. On Android 8 and 9, storage access is requested only when needed to save a photo to Pictures/RCGarage.

RC Garage does not read your contacts, microphone, messages or unrelated personal files.

9. Location and weather

RC Garage does not need location access for normal garage management. When you explicitly use the local weather feature, the app requests location access only after your action. Coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve current conditions and the local forecast; RC Garage only keeps the last displayed current weather locally for the app experience.

You can also manually enter driving locations, addresses, coordinates or map links in your own records.

10. External services, links and Play Store Reviewer verification

RC Garage can open or interact with Google Play, Google Play services, Google Maps, Open-Meteo, Discord, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, RC manufacturer websites, manual/document providers and other links you choose to open. The website and backend are hosted using Cloudflare services. External providers may process technical connection information such as IP address, request time, browser/device information and cookies according to their own privacy policies. RC Garage does not control those external services.

If you claim the Play Store Reviewer badge, the name shown on your Google Play review is sent to the RC Garage backend so the badge claim can be manually verified.

11. Advertising, sales and payment data

RC Garage does not sell personal information. The current app does not use an advertising network. RC Garage does not ask for or store payment-card information for a community account.

12. Retention and deletion

Local Android data remains until you delete it in the app, clear all local data, clear Android app storage or uninstall RC Garage. Manual backups remain in the location you selected until you delete them.

Online RC Connect data remains for as long as needed for your account and community features or until you delete the relevant content or your account, except for information that may temporarily be needed for security, moderation, fraud prevention or technical integrity. Technical profile-visit records are used to limit a signed-in user to one counted profile visit per day; feed-impression information is processed to operate the feed view counter.

A community account can be permanently deleted from your profile. Your local garage remains on your Android device unless you clear it separately. The current backend removes the account/profile, sessions, private Web Garage data, friendships, direct messages, most profile-feed content and related account data. Some forum content may be marked deleted, safety/moderation records may be retained, and shared Community Garage copies may remain detached or anonymous. 13. Security

RC Garage uses Android private app storage for local information and authentication/session controls for online account features. No device, application, network or storage service can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your device with a PIN, password or biometric lock, use a strong RC Connect password and keep backups in trusted locations.

A forgotten RC Garage app-lock PIN cannot be recovered. Removing the app lock requires clearing the Android app data; local data is lost, although a previously created RC Garage backup can be restored afterwards.

14. No warranty and limitation of liability

RC Garage is an information and organisation tool. Catalog data, exploded views, parts, product numbers, maintenance information and reminders may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. Before purchasing, installing, charging, storing or using anything, verify the exact model, chassis, part number and official manufacturer documentation. Always follow battery and charger manufacturer safety instructions for LiPo batteries.

The service does not provide professional technical, electrical or safety advice. To the maximum extent permitted by law, RC Garage is provided without warranties and its creator(s) and administrator(s) are not liable for incorrect orders, incompatible parts, data loss, damage to vehicles or equipment, battery damage, fire, injury, consequential loss or damage caused by external websites or services. Nothing in this provision excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

15. Children and safety

RC Garage is a general RC hobby management service and is not specifically directed at children below the age at which they can lawfully consent to the relevant data processing in their country. Community content involving exploitation or endangerment of minors is prohibited.

16. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or information about personal-data processing. Local-only data can normally be edited or deleted directly on your Android device. Online account deletion is available in the app and manual requests can be sent through the contact methods below.

This policy may be updated when RC Garage changes. The date at the top of this page shows when this text was last revised.

Website traffic analytics

RC Garage uses first-party, cookie-free website traffic analytics to understand how rcgarage.nl is used and to show live traffic in the private admin dashboard. The website can send a random browser-session identifier, the page being viewed, referring source and basic device/browser information. Cloudflare can provide approximate country, region and city information with the request. RC Garage does not store the visitor’s raw IP address in its website analytics tables.

The anonymous browser-session identifier is used to avoid counting every page view as a separate live visitor. Website traffic information is used for site operation, performance, audience understanding and abuse/security monitoring and is not sold to advertisers.
